TimesTables 2.3.3

The TimesTables iPhone app has been recently updated to 2.3.3. The main two features in this version are that it will automatically start the app with the last player, and it will also show the last quiz that was played so that it can be played again easily. If you have downloaded 2.3.2 then you will need to download 2.3.3 because this fixes a bug where the highscores were no longer selectable.

This post is a bit late, but quite a few of my iPhone programs have been updated in the past week or so. Times Tables, Learn Time, Learn Time Lite, and Roman Quiz have all received a number of fixes and improvements.

My favourite change is the animated menu that I added to Learn Time and Learn Time Lite. The user is still presented with a table view from which they choose the starting level, but there is an animated fish swimming from side to side.

I will be releasing a new version of Times Tables soon that will allow the highscores and unlocked tables to be reset — useful if you are trying out the program and want to delete your highscores before giving it to your children.

In the following video you can see some of the new features of LearnTime. There is a new mode called “free play” that allows the child to play with the clock and see what time it is. I have also tried to make the program more appealing by adding sounds and animations on the game menus. I have a couple more things that I would like to add but I will add these in hopefully the next version. I do plan on adding another couple of themes so if you have any requests please contact me at kumo@kumo.it.

As always there is a demo version of LearnTime (LearnTime Lite) that allows you to try out the first two levels (essentially the hours and 15 minute intervals) and this is also available on the app store.

A minor update to Learn Time for the iPhone and iPod Touch is now available in the app store. In the previous version the 5th level was missing from the home screen and so the only way to get to it was to finish the 4th level first. This version also adds email and website links.

In the next version I plan on adding sound effects and hopefully also a different type of quiz.

A new version of Learn Time for the iPhone and iPod Touch is available on the app store. This version adds more animations and also allows the starting level to be chosen. New levels are made available as the child progresses so that the harder levels are only available once the simpler questions have been answered correctly. More details can be found here.

An iPhone/iPod Touch program to learn to read the time has been approved by the app store. It shows a fun and colourful clock with multiple levels of difficulty that is fine for beginners and more advanced learners. The child must move the hands of the clock to the correct time. A new version of Times Tables has been approved and is available on the app store. This is a minor update that allows the questions to be shown as either 7×1 or 1×7.

HiraKata Quiz for iPhone released

I have released an iPhone version of my hiragana and katakana quizes. My intention is to link together the web version of the quizes with the iPhone so that you can keep track of your progress and continue your learning, whether you are on the bus or sitting at your computer. It is called HiraKata Quiz and it can be found on the app store here.

Times Tables 1.1 upgrade

A new version of Times Tables for the iPhone/iPod Touch has been submitted and approved by the app store. This release focuses on improving the results shown at the end of each quiz. The main changes are: the questions are now individually marked with a star given for each answer that is correctly given on the first attempt and a star is given to the times tables (or multiplication tables) that are correctly answered.

This marks the start of my efforts to improve the results view. If you have any comments or suggestions please write to me or instead use getsatisfaction.com to share ideas and raise issues.

Quizes back online [updated]

UPDATE: well the old quiz should be back online so if there are any problems please let me know! I am going to start documenting my work on the new version of the quizes so let’s see how it goes.

Hello, I am sorry to say that I am putting the quizes temporarily offline. The reason being that they are in definite need of changes and I haven’t updated the code for a long time; mainly because it was too awkward deploying new versions. I am starting to take the steps to simplify the whole process, but it may take a couple of days to return.

As I want to go to Japan this summer I think this will be a good opportunity for me to sort out the quizes and make them more useful for me which in turn should be more useful for you!
