People.iro is an evolved version of the People application that can be used to manage and create People files.
Originally, People.iro began life as a icon-template-painter (‘iro’ means colour in Japanese — 色), but it felt like an orphan of the original People application so I went back, rewrote the whole thing and added a number of additional features such as multi-lingual support, field names based on actual mime type names, and the ability to hide or show specific fields.

The latest version (v0.2b) can be downloaded for x86 or ppc (coming soon).

There are 4 main features of People.iro that are described in detail below and these are:

* *multiple languages* — it is easy to create support for a new language yourself
* *hiding fields* – you can decide which information you want to see in the program
* *colourful icons* — create a colourful icon for each of your files
* *field language* — you can view the field names using the current language or the MIME file-type

h2. resources

The People.iro language files are stored as text files so it is very easy to add support for a new language. If you want to create a new file then download an existing language and make your changes. Please send any corrections or new languages to me so that I can add them to this page.
